Before filming P.M.S.: PRE-TEEN MONSTER SYNDROME, in 2013 Nathan Ludwig and Chad Farmer of Farmwig Productions produced an homage to silent films and the slasher…

A mom, a dad and a daughter are seen driving to a lake and unpack a picnic after walking sometime to find a spot.

Almost Immediately Dad pulls his phone out to talk what it appears business.  The mom begins to lay out sandwiches and a casserole as the daughter lays out a towel near the lake in a two piece for a tan…

Meanwhile Daddy covers his daughter up like it’s not appropriate to show much skin but then goes off still ya bering on the phone… towards where they parked their vehicle…

Back at the lake his unexpected family is being watched… by two men… one behind a camera the other dressed as a burglar…

The burglar Slips behind ma slitting her throat… and both tag team the daughter and drown her…

Daddy comes back tries to revive her no luck and next he’s tied and brought some where where we figure out all this was about a film called Zominjas that hadn’t been submitted to a film festival…

I didn’t want to spoil it all as the best part I didn’t say but I like to spoil a bit in my reviews as I’m a bit more descriptive.

Let me first say I enjoy silent films and I think that it was a little bit comedy as well as horror and silent.  I think the wording was well engineered as well as the music behind made you feel like you were watching reel to reel well done guys.

Thing about silent films you don’t really have to act because it’s more describing a situation as sound was not invented in that age… but it helped the actresses were good looking enough to play the role…. the only thing I’ll say boys is that the point of getting away and going on a trip is get away from electronics and phones for a bit to enjoy some family time! Remember that lol

So in so saying I am also going to give this a 4 out of 5 star rating as in away it’s exactly how some feel when their films are not excepted… but as silent films are 50/50 as to whether people would appreciate them well enough but I did enjoy it…

Starring Kevin Maurice Roberts as Dad, Allen Hecker as Cameraman, Mike Ruther as Burglar, Victoria Abbott as Daughter, Connie Taylor as Mom.

Movies Galore takes a look at director Matt Freck and Jason Impey’s short film “Turn Heel” from 2016!

Written by David Strege

Directed by Matt Freckingham and Jason Impey of Freckerr Productions this 2016 short film depicts another Madman into to fray…

As the film begins we see a figure hunched over a computer desk in a messy room as we see images of wrestling and apparently the thoughts of a voices telling this figure under a hood and mask that he’s never going to fold, telling they’ve locked him up after it appears a fight telling him to kill them all…

Next we see a man on a bridge watching three freind’s walk through a patch of woods and set up camp.  We see this man bowing at the end of a bridge…

The freinds begin to joke around drinking and pulling out a mask, while the man from the bridge watches from afar…

As one of the guys goes off for firewood the hulking man in a mask takes a branch and stalks the guy and beats him to a bloody pulp as he weirdly watched the blood squirting out from his neck.

Meanwhile the other two realize their freinds been gone and split off to find him and we watch as each man gets mutilated one after the other by this crazy dressed up wrestling maniac.  As with his strength we watch him pull a man’s bottom from his top as he chews on his intestines.

The last freind while looking rubs into the Masked maniac as he squeezes his head completely off as we see the severed, neckless body squirting the last of its blood… as we see the killer walk up a path holding the head in hand, reaches the bridge and kisses his prize…

I can say that for how short this film is it had its Gorey moments I’ll remember the man getting his guts pulled apart extremely.  But I think it’s problem was like some independents the audio on some of the dialogue it was up and down.  Having it have that vhs quality made it seem and feel like an old school slasher which helped.

Altogether I did enjoy the film though I wish I knew more about the background of the killer then just images… I’m going to give this film a 3 out of 5 star rating as I feel it was a start and that the actors could have been heard a little more.  The gore was great for what they needed to produce so I’m going to say they had an awsome Special Effects team.

I recommend this little film for anyone into wrestling and old school slasher type horror films…

And from what I hear there’s going to be a sequel I’d be curious to see where their going to go with this!

Starring Matt Freckingham, Baron Mynd, Kerr Wykes, Dan Grainger, and Mr. Horsey as Father.

Ocular

As I’m sure this film was filmed while he was in Green Bay, WI this 2015 short directed by David Brudie writer and Avante Garden film Experimentalist is now Wisconsin based… having influences that stem from Jordowsky, F.W. Murnau and many other experimentalists…

The film begins as we see a hooded figure use what I think to be a toilet as we realize that Dave is bringing us on a twisted kaleidoscope like rorshak test of mentality as the figure looks like he shits bloodied poop as it opens a doggy box to fill a sandwich to budha.

Some how I think he depicts pain and loss and pregnancy as well as ceremonial sacrifice and the crap that this hooded figure seems to take with no argument.

I’m not sure if this was my exact cup of tea as I’m still trying to understand what I saw but I got the assumption the individual in question was heavily into new age religion hence the cross and budha involved but the significance of the visual was entertaining.  As I’ve seen many experimental films I think that the Stories Brudie tties to portray are obscured in mystery and in ways this short film was like his Magic Eye homage to the mind.

I’m going to give this short film a 3 out of 5 stars.  I’m uncertain whether I entirely liked it at this point in time but I will say I saw his second film and I understood and liked the presentation of that one more but I thoroughly recommend those who are into directors such as Kenneth Anger, Murneau and Jordowsky, along with films like Begotten… I think you’d enjoy this film if you thought in terms of more of a visual journey than that of a scripted story line…

Starring David Brudie as the Entity, Crystal Faith as Salvation, Morris Snelius as Martyr.

Secret Family Recipe

Directed by Chris Durand from Get Conde Productions comes this appetizing short from 2013.

As we hear over the radio as someone’s cooking of a local Puppeteer Vincent the Magicant was found to have some mutilated bodies in his storage unit….

Anne is bent on on having a lifestyle so Arthur is desperate to produce meat he cant afford for a party as it appears they’ve kidnapped a man named Tom and his daughter who appears to be locked up in their deep freezer…

As well as meeting up at a new neighbors barbecue they also don’t realize what’s on the menu…

As a cute little short comedy I saw the humor in this tale especially since the wife was behind as well as some of the neighbors as it appears all involved are modern day cannibals…

I’m going to give this film a 4 out of 5 stars as it was quite amusing that Toms last name is Secret and recommend for other horror comedy enthusiasts to chicken it out as it comes with Joe Vampire on Gatorblade Films dvd as an extra feature… what would you do to maintain your social statis?

Starring Lisa Arcaro as Anne, Robert Borras as Tim Original, Chris Durand as Arthur, Rue Garcia as Deborah Original, Mitchell Herrin as Tom Secret, James Vale as Hungry Neighbor.
